“If the Anti-Corruption Council includes people who are associated with corruption, how can the Council operate productively?”- Hovsep Khurshudyan, a member of «Heritage» party, told Iravaban.net, referring to the activity of the Anti-Corruption Council recently created by the decision of the government.
“The Council can cover and hide corruption, but not complete the mission that it has accepted. I do not believe it,” H. Khurshudyan said. Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan is the head of the Anti-Corruption Council, the Minister of Finances Gagik Khachatryan and the Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan are its members.
As for the question whether the activity of the Council will be productive if representatives of civil society organizations become its members, Hovsep Khurshudyan answered: “If some serious organizations become members, we can have a little hope. I cannot say that there will not be a priori, but I do not see any steps yet.”
