Gagik Ghazinyan was awarded “Themis” International Law Award

Dean of YSU Faculty of Law Gagik Ghazinyan received International Law Award “Themis”; the official website of Yerevan State University informs.

Gagik Ghazinyan was awarded the prize in the nomination “Russia and the CIS” for holding large-scale events in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, reforms in the legal system in the post-Soviet region, the development of the legal community in the CIS and development of relations between these countries, as well as a great contribution to the field of juridical education.

“Themis” is the oldest and one of the most prestigious law awards in Russia. The award “Themis” was created in 1996 by the Moscow Club of Lawyers, and in 2007 co-founder of the award became the Association of Lawyers of Russia. Since December 2014, the right to hold the award ceremony “Themis” belongs to the International Foundation for Legal Initiatives.

The main mission of “Themis” is to promote the juridical sphere, an impartial assessment of Russian and foreign actors of the juridical system, protection of fundamental human rights.

Among the winners of the award are the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev (2007), Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation (1998), President of Kazakhstan Norsultan Nazarbayev (2010), President of the Chamber of Advocates of Moscow Henry Reznik (2011) and others.
