The Fight against corruption is the problem of both the society and the state. It is necessary to fight against it in joint efforts.
“We think that the fight against corruption is very significant in Armenia and the Civil society organizations have their voice to be heard in that struggle and have their involvement,” said the president of the Armenian Young Lawyers Association, Project Manager of “Multi-Faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” Project, Karen Zadoyan .
For coordinated fight against corruption it is necessary to have knowledge in the sphere. In the framework of EU funded “Multi-Faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” Project three-day training for the representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the media of Yerevan was organized by the Armenian Young Lawyers Association and “Freedom of Information Center” NGO.
“Such kind of training must be organized more frequently and involve bigger auditorium since the fight against corruption is not one sided procedure and the establishment of mechanisms only by the state and by the society or the organization of the fight by separate bodies will not give opportunities to make corruption to minimal level in all the spheres of the society,” mentioned the representative of “Areg” Scientific cultural youth association, Hasmik Manukyan.
A three-day Anti-Corruption training is organized in Yerevan for the CSOs and Media organizations of Yerevan, Aragatsotn and Armavir marzes in the framework of the European Union funded “Multi-Faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” project. Debates on the subject of the training are rather hot, however everyone agree that the fight against corruption should be joint.
“I think the culture for taking anti-corruption steps is not yet established in our society. When we develop that idea in our minds probably we will achieve success,” thinks the President of “Professionals for the Civil Society” NGO, Nona Margaryan.
The schedule of the three-day training includes principles of good governance, information about the notion of corruption, history of its development and reasons for its occurrences, etc. The participants got acquainted to the notion of ant-corruption public monitoring, methodology and international practice. The aspects and issues of the RA Government Program, Strategic Program of the RA Legal and Judicial Reforms 2012-2016, international experience and mechanisms of creating anti-corruption coalitions were discussed. The themes covering mechanisms and sources to receive information, and the rule and specifics of implementing journalistic investigation were included as well.

“Provided materials and the lectures generally were quite effective. I was more interested since this is a new sphere of research,” mentioned the representative of “Human Dignity and Peace” NGO, Kristine Hovhannisyan.
CSO and Media Organizations, who have completed the training successfully, will have opportunity to participate in the tender for small grants to undertake monitoring, watchdog activities and journalistic investigations.
