Court Sessions fail due to the Insufficient Work of the State Bodies, Including the Police: Lawyer Marat Atovmyan

Lawyer Marat Atovmyan notes that there are many cases when administrative and criminal cases are continuously delayed due to insufficient work of various state bodies, including the police.

“Very often the representatives of state bodies, acting as the defendant, simply do not understand the situation, it even happens that 2-3 representatives of the given ministry appear and are not able to answer the questions of either the plaintiff or the judge, or they give evasive answers,” he notes.

According to the lawyer, there are cases when 2 representatives of the state body appear at the court session, only one of them speaks, and in the middle of the session they say that they have another court session and ask permission for their colleague to leave to participate in the session.

“There are also problems with notifications, we had a case in practice that when we received a notification from the criminal court, we were supposed to participate in the court session 3 days ago, and you see that the notification was sent on the very day of the session and the session was canceled in this case”.

He also emphasizes that the police do not present the accused in custody at the court session, or if he is under house arrest, they cite various technical reasons, the session is postponed, and it does not stem from the interests of justice.
