Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia with the Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland

On 20 September, in New York, within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and the Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis was held.

During the meeting, the situation that had arisen as a result of Azerbaijan’s aggression against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh was discussed in detail. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that Azerbaijan continues its aggressive policy aimed at ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh, emphasizing the imperative of preventing mass crimes in Nagorno-Karabakh and resolving issues of security and rights of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that in the current situation, any double reaction from international partners is and will be interpreted by Azerbaijan as permissiveness in its actions, emphasizing the need for an appropriate reaction and clear steps on the part of actors interested in stability in the region. The importance of ensuring humanitarian access to Nagorno-Karabakh and the full functioning of the International Committee of the Red Cross, which was hampered by the ongoing 9-month blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan, was also noted.

The upcoming meeting of the UN Security Council on September 21 was also touched upon.
