Today, on 5 September, Albert Azaryan, the greatest Armenian athlete of all time, passed away in the 94th year of his life.

Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan sent a condolence telegram.

“I was deeply saddened to learn about the death of the three-time champion of the Olympic Games, famous gymnast Albert Azaryan. I regret that during his lifetime we did not manage to complete the project of building a new sports school.

I assure that the project will become a reality and we will have a sports facility named after the “King of the Rings” in accordance with all international standards.

Albert Azaryan’s contribution and input to the development of Armenian sports is invaluable,” he said.
