One More Person of a Major Accident on the Yerevan-Gyumri Road has died

On 14 August, a report about the traffic accident that happened on the 90th km of the Yerevan-Gyumri road, near the village of Lanjik was received.

The Police reports that on 24 August, at 12:40, the resuscitation department of the “Erebuni” medical center informed that 23-year-old Eduard Koloyan, a resident of Yerevan, died.


To remind, on 14 August, around 00:20, on the 90th kilometer section of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway, “Zil” and “Volkswagen” vehicles collided with each other, as a result of which the driver and 10 passengers of the “Volkswagen” died. The driver of the “Zil” and 5 passengers of the “Volkswagen” were taken to the medical center with physical injuries.

Regarding the incident, criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 3 of Article 342 of the RA Criminal Code.

The inspection of the site of the traffic accident carried out as part of the preliminary investigation revealed that on the 90th kilometer section of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway, in the direction to Yerevan, the mentioned vehicles collided head-on. At the moment of the collisison the  “Volkswagen” vehicle was in its traffic lane, in the direction of the city of Yerevan. The “Zil” vehicle was in the opposite traffic lane, in the direction of Gyumri city.

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, 16 persons were recognized as victims, forensic medical examinations were appointed. Necessary investigative and judicial actions are being taken to find out all the circumstances of the case.

The investigation is ongoing.
