By the decision of the Government on 22 September, it is planned to expand the area of the Memory Park of the “Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute” Foundation.

For this purpose, 14 million 124 thousand drams were allocated to the “Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute” fund through the redistribution of funds saved from the 2022 state budget of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the justification of the project developed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the places intended for the fir trees planted in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Memory Park have almost been exhausted; the need to expand the area has arisen.
It should be noted that the Memory Park was founded in 1997, becoming an integral part of the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex. There are currently more than 200 trees growing there.
In 1991, since the declaration of the RA independence, the visit of official delegations from different countries to the Armenian Genocide Memorial has become a tradition, and since 16 March, 2002, the law “On State Protocol Service of RA” has defined the order of these visits.
During this period, many presidents of the world, spiritual leaders, and presidents of parliaments, speakers, and deputies, members of the government, international organizations, world-famous scientists, world-renowned cultural figures and philanthropists planted fir trees in the Memory Park.
The US Senator Robert Dole planted first tree in the Memory Park in 1997, in memory of the Armenian Genocide survivor, Armenian-American surgeon Hambar Kelekian.
