“My Ashot was hardworking; he came to work with me to help us.” Shoghik Aleksanyan, the mother of Ashot Aleksanyan, who died in the 44-day Artsakh war, tells the story.

“My word was law for him, he accepted it, if he did something wrong, he corrected it. He said that a man should serve for the homeland,” his father, Norik Aleksanyan says.

Ashot was a servant for 3 months when the war began. He served in the training military unit of Armavir region. The father says that his son was very dedicated to his service.

“The commander told me, that he asked so many questions, whenever he saw me, he asked ‘what shall I do to serve better, what shall I do so that everything is well?’ He should have been a tank driver, he said, it is a responsible job, several people are sitting, and I am the driver, I am responsible for that,” the mother says.

Mrs. Shoghik says that she always encouraged the boy before his going to the army. “I was saying, Ashot, you should praise God that you are healthy, that you are going to the army. I was very proud that my son is a soldier.”

Ashot Aleksanyan was born on 26 June, 2002. He died in the battles for the homeland on 26 October, 2020.
