Anahit Avanesyan about vaccinations of children over 12 years old and coronavirus situation

Extension of school holidays and the decision to pass to online university classes has shown some positive trends in the fight against coronavirus. A decrease in the number of coronavirus diseases has been registered, which will be recorded in next week’s numbers.

The Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan said this on 4 November, during the government sitting.

“The bed fund is still in a tense situation, we have a slight decrease among the citizens waiting for hospitalization, but the beds do not remain free for a second yet, we try to accommodate our patients on a one-day basis. The bed fund is already over 3100, it is close to 3120, we are working on involving additional beds, we are providing certain planned treatments, postponing surgeries, we are providing those beds to Covid patients,” the Minister said.

She noted that work is being carried out to organize uninterrupted work on oxygen security, at the moment all medical institutions are provided with oxygen, despite the fact that the consumption is carried out with great resources.

According to the Minister, 13% of the adult population has been vaccinated with the second dose. “After receiving the ‘Moderna’ vaccine, we also made a change in our order. Children over the age of 12 are currently able to get the vaccine. Of course it is done with the written consent of the parents and I can say that there is interest. We have already vaccinated about 50 children over the age of 12,” Anahit Avanesyan said.

She noted that the number of vaccinated patients among hospitalized citizens is small, which shows that vaccinations are effective, they play their main role. Out of more than 3000 hospitalized citizens, 97 are vaccinated.
