On 2 August, President Armen Sarkissian signed a new decree stating,

“Based on the Prime Minister’s proposal, in accordance with Article 132, Part 1, Clause 2 of the Constitution.

To appoint Lilit MAKUNTSIN Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the United States of America for a term of four years (residence in Washington),” the decree reads.

In the National Assembly of the 7th convocation she headed the “My Step” faction.
