The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia has issued a statement, which reads:
“The trilateral agreement reached between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan on the cessation of hostilities unleashed on 27 September in Artsakh, and the deployment of Russian peacekeeping troops to control the ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone provides an opportunity to clarify the whereabouts and fate of servicemen and civilians who were captured during the hostilities or whose whereabouts are still unknown, and to exchange corpses.
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia is ready to provide comprehensive assistance to the Russian peacekeeping contingent during the mission. Active work is already underway with the leadership of the peacekeeping mission and ICRC representatives to implement the process of establishing practical mechanisms for the exchange of corpses and prisoners in a short period of time.
The Insurance Foundation for Servicemen has started to provide compensation to the families of servicemen wounded or killed after 27 September. Work is underway to simplify the current legal framework for missing persons, as well as to simplify the current procedure for compensation for injured or killed servicemen, and to develop legislative initiatives to reduce compensation periods.
