Tragedy at UFAR: It is with a heavy heart that we share this painful news with you: Our community mourns the death in combat of Shant Navoyan.

Shant entered UFAR in 2019. After the first semester of studies, he went to the army over the winter to do his military service. Shant was a brave, responsible, and dedicated young man. He was only 18 years old. His passing is a huge loss to our community and Armenia. Our thoughts and prayers are with parents, family, and friends. We mourn the tragic loss of a young man who had a bright future ahead of him. But wherever he is, Shant still whispers one last message to us with his words written before his death:

“When the light dies, we watch then darkness, impatiently awaiting its rebirth, convinced that we will become the light, even if one day, we will pass away, when necessary, without being able to ask neither why nor of what.”
