The Press Service of the Judicial Department informs:

On 31 July, the Regular General Meeting of Judges chaired by the Chairman of the RA Court of Cassation Yervand Khundkaryan  took place.

The meeting was held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex with the permission of Commandant’s Office, strictly observing the anti-epidemic norms and rules set by the Commandant.

The agenda of the sitting was to hold a number of elections, in particular, in accordance with the provisions of Article 74, parts 4 and 5, and Article 77 of the Judicial Code, the General Assembly of Judges was to elect a candidate for a judge member of the Constitutional Court; judge member of the Supreme Judicial Council; and to form the Ethics and Disciplinary Commission, the Performance Evaluation Commission of Judges, and the Training Commission of the Supreme Judicial Council.

After the final speeches of the candidates and questions and answers, the judges held a vote, the results of which were summarized as follows:

Yervand Khundkaryan, President of the RA Court of Cassation, was elected a candidate for a member of the Constitutional Court with 145 votes.

Judge Stepan Mikaelyan of the Civil-Administrative Chamber of the RA Court of Cassation was elected a member of the Supreme Judicial Council with 97 votes.

As a result of the election, members of the Ethics and Disciplinary Commission were elected.

David Hakobyan for 3 years’ term.
