Georgia has issued a Guideline on the Movement of Trucks

The State Revenue Committee reports that Georgia has issued a guideline on regulating the movement of trucks through the country, which we present below. The State Revenue Committee urges the drivers of trucks entering Armenia from Georgia to follow the mentioned rules.

The movement of a truck registered in a foreign country in Georgia must be carried out in compliance with the following conditions:

  • After completing the procedures at the customs checkpoint, you must move to the destination without stopping (you can only stop at specially organized areas (STOP POINT), at the points of acquisition of the compulsory insurance policy and at the parking lots at the customs checkpoint).
  • In STOP POINTs, the driver has the right to replenish fuel, purchase a card for use of the road, tidy up and purchase personal items/food.
  • In case of difficulties (vehicle malfunction, deterioration of health, etc.), the driver must contact the relevant services and must stay in the car before arriving. For these purposes, you should call the emergency department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Emergency Management Center at 112.

The truck must leave the territory of Georgia:

  • When moving to a transit point (except for the Kazbegi border checkpoint or moving in the direction of Kazbegi) within 24 hours of entering the country.
  • In other cases (including Kazbegi border crossing or Kazbegi transit) within 48 hours of entering the country.
  • It is guaranteed that the financial payment will be made by non-cash payment (online shopping, plastic card, etc.), and personal protective equipment (medical mask, gloves, etc.) will be used.
  • Defined specially organized areas (STOP POINT) are:
  • Urbnisi, Kareli region, village Urbnisi, cadastre code: 68.16.45.054.
  • Terjola: Terjola region, Siktarva village, cadastral code: 33.08.38.224.
  • Gori, Gori region, Tiniskhidi village, cadastral code: 66.44.02.033.
  • Zestaponi, Zestaponi region, Argveta village, cadastral code: 32.03.34.211.

Note:

  • The terms of stay in the parking lots organized at the customs checkpoints required for customs clearance are not envisaged.
  • The driver of a vehicle is fined 3,000 GEL for violating the above-mentioned rules (except for not fulfilling the guarantees, or in case the weather conditions or other external factors make it difficult and/or impossibility to fulfill the established conditions). Likewise, if the violation is related to the timing of the movement, the vehicle must leave the territory of Georgia immediately, otherwise the driver will be transferred to a 14-day quarantine, and the vehicle will be transferred to the penalty area.
