Special Investigation Service reflects to Video “The police are extorting evidence with a gas mask and a baton.”

Advisor to the Prosecutor General Gor Abrahamyan issued a statement saying:

“I would like to inform that the video of the alleged use of violence against a person by the police employees widespread on the Internet and social networks has become a topic of study of the RA General Prosecutor’s Office shortly after it became available, and as a result both the video and the relevant media publication were sent to the RA Special Investigative Service to prepare materials and determine the course of proceedings in accordance with Articles 180-181 of the RA Criminal Procedure Code,” the statement reads.

On 21 November, 2019, a video containing torture videos was circulated on the Internet, according to media reports on the video; a police officer allegedly tortured a citizen in a one of the police departments of the RA Police.

Special Investigation Service informs this.

The RA Special Investigation Service is preparing materials on the alleged crime of torture.

Notice: the person suspected in or accused of an alleged crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in the manner of prescribed by the RA Criminal Procedure Code in accordance with the Court’s verdict made it effective.
