On 8 January 2019, Armen Grigoryan, the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia held a telephone conversation with Gabit Bayzhanov, the Assistant to the President – Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the conversation the sides exchanged views on the situation in Karaganda.

The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia conveyed his deepest condolences to the relatives and friends of the murdered Janseit Bakhytzhanuly.

Both sides emphasized the inadmissibility of turning a tragedy on a domestic dispute into an interethnic problem.

The Secretary of the Security Councils of the two countries highlighted the necessity of comprehensive and transparent investigation and prosecution of the offenders exclusively within the requirements of the law and justice.

At the same time, the importance of ensuring the continuous and direct communication between the relevant departments of the two countries was emphasized.
