The preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on violation of the confidentiality, recording and dissemination of the telephone conversation between the Director of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia Arthur Vanetsyan and Sasun Khachatryan continues in the proceedings of the HIC of the RA Investigative Committee.

Taking into account the public interest, we inform that the criminal investigation of the case of wiretapping and dissemination of telephone conversations, among other addresses, operative-investigative group has also visited the Yerevan.today information platform today to conduct a search in accordance with the law.

The search in the editorial office has no connection with journalistic activities, but is exclusively aimed at ensuring that a comprehensive, objective and complete investigation of the criminal case is conducted to verify the preliminary findings of the criminal case, to find out the method of secret recording and dissemination of telephone conversations between the two law enforcement officials and a number of other circumstances having significance importance.

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case revealed that the videotape of the wiretapping of the phone conversation was first posted on the Yerevan.today news website, and soon it was removed from the site. According to Google search engine, 2018, the video posted on the Internet on September 11 was posted on the news site for the first time two days before.

A computer processor and 3 memory disks were seized during the search conducted at the news site’s editorial office for the purpose of determining the procedural and technical expertise to find out the circumstances relevant to the case.

Note: The person suspected in or accused of an alleged crime is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia and the Court’s verdict made effective.
