When can the Armed Forces engage in Internal Processes? Vigen Sargsyan clarifies

Today, on April 23, during a meeting with journalists, Minister of Defense Vigen Sargsyan noted that the legislation regulates the limits, after which Armed Forces can be involved in internal processes.

He pointed out that first, people should be confident that our legislation regulates the limits where the Armed Forces can engage and how they can be involved in such situations and added that the Armed Forces can only be involved in the use of additional force, but not physical. “Other force that is necessary to maintain the conditions of the regime. It is only in the case of an extraordinary regime and for performing very specific functions,” Vigen Sargsyan said.

He mentions that there is no such intention; he simply clarified the possibilities of the legislation. “The need for that, that is, the need for the state of emergency regime should not be neiter at present nor in the future,” Vigen Sargsyan said.
