The Session of the Governing Board of Armenian CSO Anticorruption Coalition took place

The Armenian CSOs’ Coalition has presented to the Anti-Corruption Council a number of reform proposals in the in Health, Education, Police and State Revenue Collection sectors. The majority of those reforms proposals were admitted by independent experts of the expert center adjunct to the Council. These recommendations will be included in the 2015-2018 Anti-Corruption Strategic Action Plan after they are approved by the Council.

Mr. Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, Coordinator of the CSOs’ Anti-Corruption Coalition Secretariat said this at the regular session of the Governing Board of Armenian CSO Coalition, presenting the latest work done and their results.

Further Mariam Zadoyan, the lawyer of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association introduced the new “Transparency Promise” initiative and the issue of expediency of joining it to the members of the Governing Board.

She also presented what steps are being taken to prevent corruption risks in the business sector. The Coalition has offered about 100 proposals to the government last year. The majority of proposals were adopted, but some contradictory answers were received and there is a need to clarify.

Syuzanna Soghomonyan, Lawyer of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, presented the existing problems in the process of anti-corruption impact assessment/expertize of legal acts in Armenia and discussed possible options for their solution.

Karen Zadoyan presents the government’s 2017-2022 under the jurisdiction of the pre-investigation bodies investigating corruption crimes

Karen Zadoyan presented the issue of the possibility of granting to one body the authority to investigate corruption crimes and the subordination of bodies investigating corruption crimes provided in the Government’s 2017-2022 Program. The expediency of participation of the Armenian CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition in the Working Group to study this issue was discussed as well.

The Governing Body, considering all issues, decided to proceed with them. Some provisions will be presented at the recurrent meeting of the Anti-Corruption Council tomorrow. Letters on some issues will be prepared and sent to the relevant authorities.
