“Both Vahagn Vermishyan and Jhon Farkhoyan, while in custody, gave identical testimonies”: Case details according to defendants and witnesses
As reported by Iravaban.net (an Armenian online legal news media outlet), Vahagn Vermishyan has been charged with 7 counts, one of which relates to allegedly accepting a bribe at the “Ramada” hotel. This episode also involves Vermishyan’s friend, Jhon Farkhoyan, who is one of the defendants in the case.
Farkhoyan is accused of bribing an official, abetting an official to use their position for personal gain by performing or not performing certain actions, and patronage in service.
The amount in question is 2000 USD.
While completely refuting the preliminary investigation body’s justifications for this episode, the defense presents a different reality.
In a conversation with Iravaban.net, Vahagn Vermishyan’s lawyer, Alexander Kochubayev, described it as “the most farcical episode of the case.”
It should be noted that the court of first instance (the initial trial court) found Vahagn Vermishyan guilty of this episode as well and sentenced him to a total of 8 years in prison.
Vahagn Vermishyan does not plead guilty to any of the charges brought against him and demands acquittal.
