During the last days, he called and said, ‘Mom, can I talk for a longer time?’ Edgar Kotanjyan fought in Varanda
Edgar Kotanjyan, who died in the Artsakh war, was drafted into the army on 18 December, 2019. He fought in the Varanda region.
“He had infinite goals, he had so much to do. He said I had drawn everything. During the war, he called and said that senseless panic was being spread, there was no danger, and there were just shots. Until the last day, I did not know that my son had moved from Martuni to the Varanda frontline,” the mother, Siranush Soghoyan says.
The mother says that she trusted her son, she knew that everything would be fine with him, but now the boy’s death seems a mystery to her.
“They say he received a gunshot wound in the back, then they say in the abdomen. They transferred him to Yerevan, they did not warn us, maybe my son was alive,” the mother says.
Edgar Kotanjyan was born on 15 August, 2001. He died on 27 October, 2020 in the battles for the defense of the homeland. By the decree of the President of Artsakh he was posthumously awarded the Medal for Combat Service.
