I wondered how Gevorg’s far-sighted gaze could not measure the imminence of death: It was well measured
The eternal “Armenian knight” Gevorg Arshakyan, who considered his birthday to be 21 September of 1991, became immortal in the Artsakh war. Gevorg was demobilized from the army in August, but learning the news of the war, he gathered a detachment and left to the front line. At the same time, Gevorg graduated with honors from the Faculty of Philosophy of Yerevan State University, the Faculty of Law, and the “Vazgen Sargsyan” Military Institute.
“He loved life too much, but he loved the homeland more. Gevorg used to say, ‘Beyond the universe is the kingdom of Mataghis,'” Gevorg’s aunt Gayane Arshakyan says.
Gevorg said. “Die so that your death will serve your homeland.” The father remembered that every time Gevorg passed by Yerablur, he blessed those who rested there, because they had great glory and honor to rest there.
Gevorge’s dream was to return from the army, to gather the Arshakyan family. “He gathered us in Yerablur, we did not anticipate it, he was brought by boys in a luxurious military uniform, then he was raised loudly and the trumpet sounded, he was lying so calmly, with a commanding posture, with a half-smile on his face and telling us all, You saw how I won, I won the war and life I won, I won from you too…, ” Vanuhi Baghramyan, Gevorg’s niece says.
