On September 1, RA Ambassador to Iraq Karen Grigoryan presented the copies of his Accredition letters to the Foreign Affairs Minister of Iraq, Hoshyar Zebari.
In the meeting afterwards Minsiter Zebari wished luck to the Ambassador in his mission and expressed the readiness of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Iraq in developing bilateral relations. Minister Zebari noted that Armenia is a friendly country for Iraq and highly appreciated the current level of political relationship, as well as underlined the importance of developing these relations in other aspects, primarily economic.
RA Ambassador noted that Armenia observes the tragic events in the Middle East and especially in Iraq, mentioning that violence against civic population is strictly condemned, and that the situation of national and religious minorities is especially disturbing.
Ambassador Grigoryan added that Armenia welcomes the efforts of the Iraqi authorities in establishing security and stability in the country.
Both parties mentioned the importance of the activities of the Armenian-Iraqi joint intergovernmental commission in developing bilateral collaboration, and the coming session of the commission is scheduled for this November in Baghdad.
