Fight against Corruption should start from Introduction of Anti-Corruption Education System

“The strongest deterrent factor is the public opinion, which blame and condemn the corrupt persons. In other words, the attitude turns the corruption so unacceptable that the stain could not be removed even after serving the sentence for corruption in prison.” The discussion on Ant-Corruption education in Gyumri started with these words of the first Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew.

The event was organized by the CSOs group of Shirak marz of CSOs’ Anti-Corruption Coalition in the framework of “Multi-faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” project.

Mr. Marat Atovmyan, the Local Expert of “Multi-faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” project spoke about the role and importance of anti-corruption education. He introduced the methodology of such education in Armenia and about the Republic of Armenia Anti-Corruption Strategy and its Implementation Action Plan for 2015-2018.

Mr. Atovmyan said that the fight against corruption should start from introduction of Anti-Corruption Education System.

Further Mr. Carl Ulbricht, the Local Expert of “Multi-faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” project referred to the target groups of anti-corruption education and its methodology. In addition, he provided the solutions of the problems that exist in our country and drew parallels with the international practice. He cited examples of 6 different countries.
