On 5 March, 2018, the first session of the Supreme Judicial Council took place at the Conference Hall of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, pursuant to Article 174 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, and on the basis of Article 84, and Article 166, Part 8 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Armenia “Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia”.

The session was convened to elect the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council from the 5 members elected by the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the law, Gagik Harutyunyan, was elected the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Armenia by the unanimous vote.
