Amicus Curiae: A Friend of the Court on the Path to Strengthening Justice

A new project is being circulated to introduce the institution of amicus curiae, or “friend of the court,” in Armenia – a concept originating from Roman law and applied in legal systems of many countries around the world

In Armenian, terms such as “advisory opinion,” “third party opinion,” and “special position” are often used as equivalent translations.

Among the key objectives of this institution, the project presenter notes the enrichment of legal analysis and presentation of alternative approaches, protection of public interest and its institutional safeguards, as well as the development of law and judicial practice.
