“We were told from the Presidential Building that we don`t need to start a hunger-strike, nevertheless we`ll go on a termless hunger-strike from tomorrow on so that our voice gets to the President of the Republic as he is our first hope”, Ashot Arushanyan`s father Lavrenti Arushanyan announced today in front of the Presidential palace. Ashot Arushanyan is accused of theft of particularly large amounts of money.
Ashot Arushanyan`s case is currently at the Criminal Court of Appeals. At the previous court sitting which took place on 4 November, the judicial examination stage of the court proceedings ended, and at the upcoming court sitting the lawyer of the defendant, Liparit Simonyan and other parties will come up with speeches (You can find more details on the trial of Ashot Arushanyan and Edgar Karaqeshishyan here).
Ashot Arushanyan`s family members, relatives and neighbours held an action today in front of the Presidential building. Lavrenti Arushanyan together with Liparit Simonyan addressed a letter to RA President Serzh Sargsyan and personally left it at the respective department. “Only under strict control of the RA President the Court of Appeals will make a fair decision”, Mr. Arushanyan announced after handing the letter in. Afterwards the participants of the action went to the National Assembly to pass letters to the parliamentary factions.
