Community Meeting In Akhaltsikhe Urban Community

From May 1, 2014 the Armenian Young Lawyers Association (AYLA) in cooperation with its partners, Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) and the Czech partner, Agora Central Europe implements “Citizens’ Participation in the Decision Making Processes of Local Self-Governance Bodies: Introduction of EU Experience” project. In the framework of the project on July 10, 2014 in Akhaltsikhe urban community of Georgia a community meeting in “World Café” format took place. The event was organized by the Georgian Young Lawyers Association. The representatives of civil society organizations, journalists, the active population of the community were present.

The participants presented their opinions and suggestions about citizens’ participation in the decision making processes of Local self governance. Then based on presented suggestions a discussion and summarizing of results took place.

During the event in Akhaltsikhe the representatives of the Armenian Young Lawyers Association, the executive director, Artak Saribekyan and the head of Lori branch of AYLA, Artur Sukiasyan made welcoming speeches and presented the experience and the results of the rural community meeting carried out in Margahovit community of Lori. The representatives of AYLA also talked about the particularities of citizens’ participation in the local self governance sphere of Armenia.
