Miss Ani Asatryan. member of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, Head of Kapan Anti-Corruption Center did not follow the public discussions of the draft law “On Prevention of Corruption and Ethics Commission”, which was conducted through the public platform of e-draft website. In the interview with us she stated that the website as well as the draft law were not be fully known by the public, in order to pass through the prism of public debates.
Speaking about the independence of the body, which according to the law is appointed by the President, Miss Asatryan said that such body cannot work freely. “In any case, I think that if the official is appointed by the President, his independence is thus limited and naturally he cannot be free and work fairly. In any case there is a dependence from this aspect” she said.
Ani Asatryan says she did not notice any positive aspect of the Commission’s activities. “If people work well and effectively, then in one way or another this work visible. In this case the work of the Commission is not visible to the public and this testifies to the fact that they do not work effectively,” concluded the lawyer.
