Iravaban.net continues “Foreign Law Schools” special project. The seventh article of the series is dedicated to the Law School of Tufts University in the USA.
This time in the project “Foreign Law Schools” we present the university, the graduates of which were Armenian politicians including the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the RA, Vardan Oskanyan and the former speaker of the Palace of Representatives of Massachusetts, George Keveryan. It is worth to mention that among the graduates of the Fletcher school of the University were many politicians from all over the world.
Tufts is a private university with campuses in Boston, Medford/Somerville & Grafton, Mass., and Talloires, France. The mascot of the university is Jumbo (elephant) and the motto is “Pax et Lux”. In 1840 Christian Universalists decided to establish a college in New England. Charles Tufts donated his land for the campus in order to make it as soon as possible. The University of Tufts was established in 1852 and was named after Charles Tufts. The university is composed of 9 schools and 1 college, which are:
1. Graduate School of Arts and Sciences
2. School of Engineering
3. Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine
4. School of Dental Medicine
5. The Fletcher School
6. School of Medicine
7. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy
8. Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences
9. College of citizenship and public service
In Tufts University the Fletcher school has a unique place which educate highly professional lawyers, philosophers and diplomats. Following programs exist in the school.
