On 17 December President Serzh Sargsyan received Spyridon Flogaitis, President of European Public Law Organization (EPLO) Board of Directors, who had arrived in Yerevan to participate in the opening ceremony of the European Public Law Organization Office in Yerevan. This is the only and the first office in the region.
The RA President welcomed the guest and attached the importance to the mission of Mr. Flogaitis to Armenia. Serzh Sargsyan considered the opening of EPLO Yerevan Branch a really important event and emphasized that it was obliging, as Armenia attaches importance to solving the current problems that exist in the Public Law Sphere, through their regular studies, and analyses, and the need of active activities aimed at the establishment of the civil society in general.
The President stressed that our country was ready to support the European Public Law Organization in realization of its complex and extremely important mission, also considering the fact that EPLO objectives were completely in-line with Armenia’s policies, on the assumption of the fact that our country also supported the European values and their expansion and since its independence cooperated with the European partners and moved forward, although there were still existing problems, which need to be solved. Serzh Sargsyan stressed that Armenia will continue to advance and foresees the support of its partners including the EPLO support as well.
Spyridon Flogaitis expressed gratitude for the provided opportunity to open an EPLO Office in Yerevan and for the willingness to cooperate. He also noted that Armenia joined their organization in 2011 among more than a dozen other countries. The professor mentioned that his organization was ready to assist Armenia in the way of reforms, as well as provide training and other professional matters for the specialists which Armenia would need. He stressed that partnership with Armenia can serve as a good example to other countries and peoples of the region.
