Key Changes in NGO Legislation were presented: Training Participant

Today, more than 12 representatives of civil society learned about the recent amendments made to the new law “On Non-Governmental Organizations”.

The training was organized within the framework of EU-funded “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project. Mr. Marat Atovmyan, Coordinator of the project incubators, introduced the changes.

Marat Atovmyan presented the legal regulations envisaged by the Law on Non-Governmental Organizations, which were specifically linked to the amendments to the Charter. He mentioned that in accordance with the latest legislative amendments, after February 4, 5000 AMD state duty will be paid to register the Charter in the State Register. The expert also touched upon the provision in the law relating to the work of volunteers in the organizations and its peculiarities.

It should be noted that most of the participants were women.

“The pivotal changes that were made in the legislative field were highlighted. It was very important for us to learn about changes in volunteer issues, since we often have volunteers and now we have to be careful to have contracts with those volunteers,” Ms Silva Svazyan, representative of the Eurasia Partnership Foundation said.

According to Ms Diana Hovakimyan, President of the International Academy of Advanced Training for Doctors” NGO, such trainings are effective and good if they have a continuous nature. “There were provisions that had been changed, for example, provisions related to with volunteers. I believe that if you are aware of the law, you will be able to work properly and there will be no problems,” she said.

At today’s event, Marat Atovmyan presented the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project, mentioning that its main objective is to strengthen CSOs’ influence in Armenia in the process of developing public policies.

The “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union by a Consortium of civil society organizations, which are the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (lead organization), Agora Central Europe (NGO based in the Czech Republic), the Armenian Centre for Democratic Education-CIVITAS, the International Centre for Human Development, the SME Cooperation Association and the Union of Communities of Armenia.
