On 17 September 2016, based on the report of the city council candidate of Echmiadzin, Armavir province, in the investigation department of particularly important cases of the RA General Prosecutor’s Office, a criminal case was initiated under the RA Criminal Code Article 131, Part 2, Point 1 and Article 149 Part 2, Points 3 and 5 on the case of violence by a group of people who had had prior agreement and kidnapped the City council candidate to interfere the voting rights of the latter.
The criminal case was sent to the RA Special Investigation Service to carry out a preliminary investigation. At the same time it was instructed to immediately take the necessary operational-investigatory and criminal-procedural measures aimed at detecting the persons and circumstances of the crime committed as soon as possible.
