The Country that Is Clean of Corruption Is a Prosperous, Developing Country

An idea is the most expensive thing. Ideas change systems. It is with good ideas that we can effectively combat corruption in our country. This is the approach adopted at the Youth-Business-Government Anti-Corruption Working Meeting.

High school and university students participated in the meeting. Eva Tovmasyan, a student at Heratsi High School, already has a goal to be an entrepreneur. “I’d like to have my own office where I would employ marketing specialists supporting small and medium business representatives,” said Eva, a student from the Group of Economists. She intends to share the knowledge gained during the seminar with her friends and larger surroundings.

CSOs and Mass Media Must Play an Important Role in terms of Ensuring Transparency of the Income and Asset Declaration Institution

High-ranking officials’ asset and income declaration is a an extremely important process that must be transparent. President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, Coordinator of the Secretariat of the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia Karen Zadoyan says that both mass media and representatives of civil society are talking about the transparency of high-ranking officials’ income and asset declaration institution. In his words, the system still needs improvement. “It cannot work effectively if civil society organizations and mass media don’t play a role to ensure the very transparency of the system and, so to speak, keep a public eye on it by undertaking public oversight,” said Mr. Zadoyan.

Fight against Corruption in Local Government Bodies must be Systemic

After the presentations, there were serious discussions, questions and issues were raised. The community heads of Shirak marz who also attended the anti-corruption event also presented their problems existing in this field, which are systematic and should have systemic solutions.
