The Anti-Corruption Council ceased its Activities

Today, on 26 February, the RA Government approved the Draft Decree of the RA President on “Annulling the 1 June 2004 Decree NH-100-N of the RA President” and decided to submit it to the RA President in the provided order.

While justifying the draft, Arsen Mkrtchyan, the RA Deputy Minister of Justice mentioned that the Clause 2 Paragraph 1 of the protocol decision on “Approval of the Concept on Anti-Corruption Struggle in the Structure of Public Administration”, which was approved at the 10 April 2014 session of the RA Government, instructed to develop draft articles on institutional system of struggle against corruption and review the 1 June 2004 Decree NH-100-N of the RA President on the “Establishment of the Anti-Corruption Council.”

As a result the current Ant-Corruption Council and the Monitoring Committee will stop their activities. Instead of the latter, a new body Anti-Corruption Council, which coordinates the implementation of anti-corruption strategy, realizes control on implementation of projects, as well as ensures stable coordinated cooperation between the bodies on prevention and detection of the corruption, which have a clear framework of functions will be created. A permanently functioning Expert Committee, which supports the complete activities of the Council, will be created as well.
