In the evening of 26 November, a 32-member unit of the Armenian peacekeepers flue to Lebanon on the Italian Air Force plane and have already arrived to the place of deployment.
The Armenian peacekeeping unite will participate in the composition of the Italian contingent in the UN peacekeeping operation under the auspices of the “United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon” (UNIFIL) mission and shall ensure the security of the UN military campus.
Minister of defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to the Republic of Armenia Giovanni Ricciulli attended the farewell ceremony of the Armenian peacekeeping unit to Lebanon.
Armenian peacekeepers are involved in international peacekeeping missions since 2004 and currently they are carrying out the mission in Afghanistan and Kosovo as well.
