Serious Path for the Future Advocates

Promoting legal knowledge in the field of international law, teaching forming of right and literate lawsuits, developing the rhetoric skills of the students. These are some of the reasons for which the Philip Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition started to be held in Armenia since 2000. The Moot Court Competition of 2014-2015 was presented today at the French University.

Advocate Miss Syuzanna Soghomonyan, Armenian National Administrator of Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition informed the students that this year the competition would be held in English language. In her words, this is conditioned by the necessity to ensure high quality of the readiness of participants in the international rounds of the competition. “You can pass a serious path through the Competition, which provides quite a serious basis for lawyers who want to continue their career as advocates”, underlined Syuzanna Soghomonyan.

She also informed that the Competition would pay special attention to the issue of plagiarism, and the participants should present their own knowledge and use citations when using sources. Senior partner of the Concern Dialogue advocacy firm Aram Orbelyan also took part in the discussions.

The students asked questions on the procedure of registration and deadlines, as well as the methods of evaluation and mechanisms of passing to international rounds of the Competition.
