What international commitments did Armenia assume in the anti-corruption struggle? Fall School

Armenia’s international commitments in the anti-corruption struggle. This was the topic lectured today at the Anti-corruption and Integrity Fall School.

Candidate of Law, Consultant at the RA Constitutional Court Yeghishe Kirakosyan presented Armenia’s international commitments, including those set by the conventions of the Council of Europe, as well as the Anti-Corruption Convention in the framework of the UN, besides Armenia also takes part in the anti-corruption network of the Organization on Economic Cooperation and Development.

During the lecture the speaker presented the ways through which Armenia should model its international commitments in our reality. “As they are very complicated and extensive, it is difficult just to translate and transfer it into our reality. It is not implemented merely through legal acts. There are more important factors: we should have a developed culture, corresponding approaches, as well as social perceptions, etc. There are many commitments, the complexity and  techniques of the implementation of which should be perceived”, told Mr. Kirakosyan to Iravaban.net. During the lecture he also presented what Armenia had done in this regard and outlined the future activities to be carried out. The participants took part in a group work afterwards.

The Anti-Corruption and Integrity Fall School was organized by the Armenian Young Lawyers Association NGO and the Law Students Division of the AYLA with the OSCE Yerevan office’s financial assistance. The information partner of the fall school is Iravaban.net.
