Candidate names for the position of Armenia`s judge at the ECHR have been published

The Staff of the Ministry of Justice informs that  14 candidates have applied for the position of Armenia`s judge at the ECHR. The competition of Armenia`s Judge position at the ECHR was launched on September 3, and prior to that, on August 2 RA President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree (NH-199-N) establishing a Competition Committee. Competition consist of 2 stages, the first of which is the Checking of the completeness and correspondence of documents, and the second one is the stage of interviews. After some of the candidates make the last corrections in their applications by the end of 27 September, 2014, the applications and respective documents are presented to the Competition Council in order for it to convene a session within 10 days. During the session the completeness of the applications and their correctness will be checked, and the interview details will be specified. The interviews are held no later than 10 days after the confirmation of the list of candidates passing to the stage of interviews. Media and NGO representatives can be present at the interviews if they duly apply to the Staff of the Ministry of Justice at least 2 days prior the interview stage. Details on this will be published after confirming the list of candidates. 

The candidates who have applied within the due period are:

1. Hakob Geghami Karakhanyan – has been working in the RA Prosecutor`s Office as a Prosecutor of the Lori region by 2013,

2. Nelly Nikoghosi Harutyunyan – Head of the International Legal Relations Division of the RA General Prosecutor`s Office,

3. Davit Mheri Khachaturyan – Professor, Deputy Rector of the “Academy of Justice” NCSO,

4. Vigen Vladimiri Kocharyan – Professor, Head of the European and International Law Department at YSU,

5. Yeghishe Grigori Kirakosyan – Counselor to the head of RA Constitutional Court President,

6. Armen Mikhaili Melkumyan – Partner-Director of the “Fidelity Consulting” CJSC,

7. Arayik Garniki Ghazaryan – Member of the “Rule of Law” legal NGO and “Forum” Rights Center, Professor of the Academy of Justice” NCSO,

8. Davit Levoni Hakobyan -Full member of the WTA, Legal counselor at the NGO of “Protection of the rights of tax-payers and entrepreneurs”,

9. Lisa Rafiki Grigoryan – Judge at the Court of General Jurisdiction of the Erebuni and Nubarashen Communities of Yerevan,

10. Vahe Mishayi Grigoryan – lawyer,

11. Armen Shurayi Harutyunyan – Regional Representative of the UN Human Rights Commissioner in Central Asia, Temporary (ad interim) head of the UN Mission of Human Rights Monitoring in Ukraine, Doctor of Law,

12. Arayik Mikhaili Melkumyan – Judge at the Court of General Jurisidiction of the Kentron and Nork-Marash Communities of Yerevan,

13. Nora Arayiki Karapetyan – Judge at the Court of General Jurisdiction of Malatia-Sebastia Community of Yerevan,

14. Arman Frederiki Sarvaryan – Director of the International Law Center of Surrey, Professor of the Surrey University.
