Why aren`t the names of candidates for the position of Armenia`s judge at the ECHR published?

Why aren`t the names of candidates for the position of Armenia`s judge at the ECHR published? Isn`t this a violation of the principles of accountability and publicity? Iravaban.net talked to advocate Liparit Simonyan and Ara Ghazaryan on this matter. Today the Ministry of Justice informed that two citizens applied as candidates, but they did not want to have their names published.

Advocate Liparit Simonyan thinks that in this case the Ministry of Justice should adopt a work-style of publicity: “So that the society is alswo aware of who is going to be its representative at the ECHR”.

Another advocate Ara Ghazaryan is also going to apply for the competition for Armenia`s judge position at the ECHR. He informed that currently he is preparing the required documents. Speaking on the matter of not publishing the names of candidates he said that principles of publicity and accountability have not been violated. “The competition has not yet started, as soon as it starts, the names will be published. The period of applications ends on 24 September, I think the names will be published afterwards, there is no problem here”, he mentioned.
