As informed by the Media Service of the RA Government, the Prime-Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received Manya Henriette Ahrens, UNICEF Representative in Armenia. Hovik Abrahamyan highly appreciated the role of UNICEF in the protection of children`s rights, resolution of the problems of their health and improvement of living conditions in Armenia. “The problems of the children are in the focus of the government. In this respect we are grateful for the numerous projects being implemented by the Foundation in our country. The government is ready to give solutions to the multiple problems within a time, so in the future we are also ready to support the Foundation in the implementation of every initiative”, the Prime Minister noted.
Hovik Abrahamyan noted the importance of the strategy of returning children to their biological families and moving them to a caring family and underlined that the unloading of the orphanages is among the priority issues of the Government.
Henriette Ahrens welcomed the Government efforts in this direction and noted that in the new Governmental program the children`s factor has been largely underlined. The UNICEF Representative informed that this October Yerevan will hold the Annual gathering of the UNICEF Central and Eastern Europe Coordinators, during which the 5-year plan of the joint projects with Armenia will be discussed. Additionally, Henriette Ahrens noted that the main axis of the program will also be the returning of children from orphanages to their families and supporting them with social programs. Prime-Minister Mr Abrahamyan assured that the implementation of all the arrangements with the Foundation will be in the focus of his attention.
