The Former Minister violated Norms of Ethics: Results of the Procedure

The Ethics Committee for High Ranking Officials had initiated a procedure against the Ex Minister of Nature Protection Aram Harutyunyan, based on the application received on 24 April 2014.

The Application specifically mentioned that an international seminar “Responsible Mining, Challenges and Opportunities” took place on 25-26 March 2014, where an incident occurred between the environmental activists and the RA Minister of Nature Protection Aram Harutyunyan. One of the participants of the action, Apres Zohrabyan, quoted a recent record from the Facebook page of one of the ex-employees of the ministry; where the latter classified the Ministry of Nature Protection as a “grave”. In response the ministered threatened the activist saying, “Know where to stop puppy, or I shall cut of your ears and put it in your hands.”

The applicant considers that “The RA Minister of Nature Protection Aram Harutyunyan’s threats, which include offensive excretions and is not a due conduct of a High Ranking official, and is considered as gross violation of the norms of ethics. In such circumstance the respect and confidence to the institution, which he represents is threatened as well.”

It is due to mention that upon the Prime Minister’s decision Aram Harutyunyan has been appointed the Governor of Kotayk marz of the RA.
