It has been recently registered that Africans are using Armenian territory for transit purposes to get to the European countries. The NSS submitted the report to the Government.
Those who arrived to Armenia, illegally or by the mediation of firms, are trying to get temporary residency status.
According to the NSS, the flow may become uncontrollable and create a lot of problems: social, demographic, health issues (taking into consideration that the countries mentioned above, present AIDS and other infectious disease prevalence), crime.
Citizens from 40 different African countries have no problem, at the Republic of Armenia’s state border’s crossing points, getting a visa.
The NSS suggested to list the 40 African countries and limit their citizen’s entrance to Armenia only on an invitation basis.
This issue is included in the agenda of the 28 June session of the RA Government.
