The 13 Delinquent Judges in the First half of 2013

Pursuant to the Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia: as a result of considering the matter related to the disciplinary liability of a judge, the Council of Justice may apply any of the following types of disciplinary sanctions against the judge:

 

1) Warning;
2) Reprimand, which shall be combined with depriving the judge of 25% of his salary for a six-month period;
3) Severe reprimand, which shall be combined with depriving the judge of 25% of his salary for a one-year period; or
4) Filing a motion requesting the President of the Republic to terminate the judge’s powers.

In the first half of 2013, thirteen disciplinary actions were applied against judges. One judge was dismissed from the position. Who were those judges and what were the grounds for the sanctions is given below.

By the decree of the RA President, Judge Alexander Merangulyan’s was dismissed from judges position.

If a judge is not subjected to a new disciplinary sanction within two years of receiving a reprimand or severe reprimand, or within one year of receiving a warning, he shall be considered not to have a disciplinary sanction.

The decision of the Council of Justice shall become final at the moment of its promulgation and shall not be subject to appeal.
