By 15:00, the Human Rights Defender received 37 Alarms related to the Electoral Process

By 15:00, on December 9, on the day of extraordinary elections to the National Assembly, 37 reports on the electoral process were received on the hot line of the Armenian Human Rights Defender’s staff. This is reported by the Department of Public Relations of the Human Rights Defender’s Office.

The HRD Office reports this.

The alerts to the hotline were mainly related to the accessibility and furnishing of the polling station, the possibility of selecting them at a location different from the place of registration; the exercise of the electoral right of persons who were not able to appear independently at precinct centers, including those in inpatient treatment as well as those not included in the voter list on the voting day; and a number of other issues.

Along with the calls to the hotline, the Defender’s Office has also been investigating more than 500 publications in media outlets and social networks.

The Ombudsman’s Office analyzes the implementation of the electoral rights raised through hotlines and publications, including in the marzes. Within the scope of the powers reserved to the Defender, through the Rapid Response Groups sent to the provinces, the competent authorities are required to clarify the steps taken therein.

It should be reminded that the staff of the Human Rights Defender is operating from early morning. Claims or alerts regarding the exercise of electoral rights can be addressed to the Defender’s Staff at hotline numbers 116 or (096) 116 100.
