Judge Davit Balayan will examine the Motion on Yuri Khachaturov’s Detention. The Court Session is postponed

CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov is in the Shengavit residence of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction. Now the motion for detention is being examined.

The journalist of Iravaban.net  reports from the court that the presiding judge at the court hearing is Davit Balayan.

His attorney Mihran Poghosyan said in a conversation with journalists that the hearing was postponed until 18:00 to get acquainted with the case.

On 26 July, 2018, CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov was charged with a criminal offense on the basis of sufficient evidence obtained during the preliminary investigation on the criminal case in the RA Special Investigative Service on the events that took place in Yerevan from 1 March 2008 to 2 March 2008. The former President has been charged according to Article 300.1 Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code for the fact that he has overthrown the Constitutional Order of the Republic of Armenia with prior agreement with other persons.

The investigator filed a motion to the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction of First Instance to choose a detention as measure of restraint for Yuri Khachaturov.

It should be added add that the question of detention of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan is also being examined in the same court since morning.
