At the regular Session of the RA Government on 2 March 2017, the RA Minister of Justice presented the Draft Law of the RA on making Amendments in the “Law of the Republic of Armenia on the Prosecution.” According to the draft, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia should publish a report on investigation of criminal cases on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia by 1 April on annual basis. According to the investigation jurisdiction, the report must contain information on the results of investigation of crimes committed during the previous year, statistical data, comparative analysis and conclusions. Moreover, information on the results of the investigation of corruption crimes, statistical data, comparative analyzes and conclusions are presented separately.

For completion of the above mentioned report, the investigation bodies, according to jurisdiction, should submit to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia by February 1 of each year, information on the results of investigation of crimes committed during the previous year and statistical data and the Prosecutor General approves their methodological guidelines.

Taking into consideration the fact that in recent years Armenia has entered a new stage of development of fight against corruption, and the civil society has its active role in it, the CSOs Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia believes that currently, the above-mentioned legislative proposal and it implementation have become urgent. The mentioned amendment will ensure transparency, accountability of the activities carried out by the law enforcement authorities, and increase public control over these processes.
