Interpol canceled the announced by Azerbaijan Persecution against a Group of Persons

According to the Head of the Public Relations Department of the RA Police Ashot Aharonyan, the Interpol’s NCB of Azerbaijan released a statement on March 1 addressed to Interpol member states, on issuing international arrest warrants for a group of foreign and Armenian scientists carrying out archaeological excavations in Nagorno Kharabakh in 2016.

The warrants were issued based on Articles 116.0.8-3 (Infringement of norms of the international humanitarian right during confrontations), 165.2.2 (Infringement of author’s or adjacent rights), 183.2.1 (Plunder of subjects which have special value), 183.2.2, 281.2 (Public appeals directed against the state) and 318.02 (Illegal crossing border of the Azerbaijan Republic) Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan.

The National Central Bureau of Interpol Armenia presented the necessary grounds and clarifications to the general secretariat of Interpol, that the Azerbaijani side is once again attempting to involve Interpol into political issues, which undoubtedly contradicts with the provisions of Article 3 of Constitution of the ICPO-Interpol (It is strictly forbidden for the Organization to undertake any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character) and it threatens to the reputation of Interpol.

In its turn, the General Secretariat of Interpol found the information provided by the RA Police grounded, and immediately responded and released statement on the same day to all member states and notified that the information on the above-mentioned individuals contradict to the provisions of Article 3 of Interpol Constitution and they cannot be internationally wanted.
