The overwhelming majority pf public figures have not noticed the results of several years’ activity of the Commission on Ethics of High-Ranking Officials. Ms larisa Alaverdyan, the first ombudsman of the republic of Armenia said in the interview with iravaban.net that the work of that Commission had not yielded any significant change.
“I have not even followed the activities of that commission, and I can say that it in no way has influenced the rise of ethics. I did not follow what they have done. I see that there is no result,” she said.
Notably, the RA Ministry of Justice had elaborated a new draft law on Prevention of Corruption and Ethics Commission, which was presented for public discussion on e-draft website. Larisa Alaverdyan was not aware of the draft as well.
In reply to the observation that the new Council, which will be created, would be appointed by the President, she said that thus they cannot be independent.
“I have not noticed the results of the work of that commission in any way. They have not had any positive effect. Leaving the same composition of the commission is more than a gross political mistake,” Ms Alaverdyan concluded.
